What is reconciliation? 

Reconciliation is the process of developing a respectful relationship between Indigenous and settler (i.e. non-Indigenous) people across Canada. It’s about working together to overcome the devastating effects of colonization.

What is colonization? 

In Canada, colonization occurred when a new group of people migrated to North America, took over and began to control Indigenous Peoples. Colonizers impose their own cultural values, religions, and laws, make policies that did not/do not favour Indigenous Peoples.

Reflection Journal: As a youth, and as a Canadian, how can you support our ongoing journey towards reconciliation?

Self Guided Reading 15 No Fixed Address Novel Continued . . .Outside under a tree listen.  From page 182 Chapter 26 Audio Book - 5 min 32 in to 233 and Ch 32 5 min and 23 in Audio Book.  June 8 - Science Field Trip June 9th -  Attendance, Self Guided Reading City, RV residents still at odds over living along Slocan Street  - article review. Discussion and comparison to our novel - No Fixed Address. Indigenous Feather Completion - re: Honouring and Respecting the 215 Children recently discovered on the property of the Kamloops Residential School.  If Time - completion of No Fixed Address - Novel From 233 and Ch 32 5 min and 23 in Audio Book to page 255 Audio Book Ch 35. June 17 2021 Ted Talk Project Continued. . .

Attendance.  Self Guided Reading Students - 20 min.  Class to clean their desk and then move upstairs to the Tech Lab - to work on Assign 11 Teams. Students have already been provided an intro to this assignment earlier on in the week. Tech Lab Upstairs - key located in library.  Student Task - June 17th - goal today - to complete location of a Ted Talk of your interest. Watch and listen. Note down main points and perhaps 2-3 quotes you may wish to you in your summary paragraph. Complete your MLA reference sheet for this assignment (Instructions in Teams Assign 11 & work on completing your 2 paragraphs for this assignment).  Note: Last in class day to work on this assignment will be Monday June 21 2021.
